New Website Features

We are pleased to announce the release of some new applications on our website. If you look at the left-hand side of any interior page on our website, you will see three new buttons. The one labeled "Customize your bath" links to a new flash site that will allow you to create and fully customize a virtual Jason bath. Change the colors of the bath, choose a hydrotherapy type, and change out the options to fit your needs.

The second button, "Discover the benefits of hydrotherapy", goes to a new page in the website with a flash video that summarizes the science and benefits of each of the four types of hydrotherapy. Also under each hydrotherapy page are two new instructional videos: a step-by-step explanation of how to use the signature controls, and an educational video outlining the features and options for that bath.

The third button, "View our product brochure", opens a new window with an interactive 3D version of our brochure. Users can browse through the pages and view our entire line of baths and bath products.

Water Temperature During Hydrotherapy

While many view hydrotherapy as the result of pressurized whirlpool jets or air bubbles, a large part of the experience can be controlled through the temperature of the water. We feel these effects stronger when we take a bath because the rate of heat exchange between the body and water is 20 times greater than between the body and air. What that basically means is that while the temperature in your house may be a comfortable 72°F, that same temperature water would feel extremely cold. There are four ranges of water temperature that can be used for different types of hydrotherapy: neutral range, hotter range, cooler range, and cold range.

Neutral Range – Water is 95°F-98°F, and will feel comfortable as it mimics the natural temperature of the body. You can stay in a bath for extended periods of time as long as water temperature is maintained.

Hotter Range – Water is 99°F-104°F, and will feel very warm. Your core body temperature will go up and you will experience increased circulation as the body attempts to cool itself off. The highest temperature in this range is only safe to bathe in for a maximum of 20 minutes.

Cooler Range – Water is 89°F-95°F, and will feel very cool. This temperature is recommended for brief use after exercise or competing in a sporting event.

Cold Range – Water is 68°F-72°F, and should only be used in a controlled environment. This is used in some spas as a quick 60 second plunge after steam treatments to cool off the body.

For most of you using your home baths for hydrotherapy, your optimum water temperature will probably be between the neutral and hotter range. You should take some precautions when using hot water in your bath:
· Ensure your faucets have scald protection on them.
· If you are receiving treatment for a cardiovascular condition, consult your doctor before receiving hydrotherapy.
· Blood flow is increased by up to 30% when using hot hydrotherapy, so be sure to exit the bath slowly in order to avoid dizziness.

There are numerous other benefits of hydrotherapy, and Jason offers a wide range of baths and four types of hydrotherapy to meet those needs.

Spotlight on…Our President

If you were to speak to any employee at Jason International, they would tell you that the heart and soul of this company lies in our president, Remo Jacuzzi. His story is one that ties in with an even larger family story spanning generations, from Italian immigrants in the turn of the 20th century to the creation of the whirlpool spa industry.

Remo’s father, Valeriano, immigrated to the United States in 1907, where he settled in Northern California. More family members followed, and in 1915 Valeriano and five of his brothers founded the Jacuzzi Brothers company. It was in this atmosphere that Remo grew up.

After graduating from high school, Remo went on to study business and mechanical engineering at the University of California at Berkeley. He was a member of Sigma Phi fraternity and played for the school’s football team. In 1957 he married his high school sweetheart, Paula, and continued to study and work in the family business.

After working for Jacuzzi Brothers in the US, Remo was transferred to Brazil in 1968 to manage the company’s plant there. In 1979 the family sold the Jacuzzi Bros. business, and in 1980 Remo was transfered back to the US where he served as president of Jacuzzi Bros. in Little Rock, Arkansas.

In 1982, Remo founded Jason International in Little Rock, Arkansas. He has spent over 25 years as president of Jason, overseeing the introduction of numerous products to the hydrotherapy industry. Jason International employs a number of Jacuzzi family members in the industry, including three of Remo’s children working in management, along with other family members working in development and sales.

Though he has received many awards over his career, the most recent honor for Mr. Jacuzzi has been his induction into The Haas School of Business Hall of Fame at his alma mater, the University of California at Berkeley.

Arkansas Food Bank

Jason International has recently instigated a campaign called “Dress Down For A Cause Day” to raise money and collect food for the Arkansas Food Bank. Employees are allowed to wear jeans on Friday if they donate money or canned food for the drive.

The Arkansas Food Bank distributes about 34,000 pounds of food per day to 450 agencies all over the state, which in turn feeds more than 23,000 hungry Arkansans every day.

“Jason International employees have been very generous in their contributions so far, and we look forward to the opportunity to donate much more in the months to come,” says Melissa Pollock, Human Resources Manager at Jason International. “The Arkansas Food Bank is a wonderful organization that is fighting to eliminate hunger in our state, and we at Jason are proud to be involved in that effort.”

For more information about the Arkansas Food Bank, and what you or your company can do to contribute, visit their website at http://www.arkansasfoodbank.org/.

Race for the Cure and the Susan G. Komen Foundation

Jason International is proud to have sponsored a team every year for the last 5 years in the Little Rock Race for the Cure.

"I’ve participated in the race for about 10 years. Eight years ago, about ¼ mile from the finish line, I fell and fell HARD. Skinned both hands, elbows, and knees. I was amazed at how many women stopped their own race to the finish to help me up and make sure I was okay. It was just another reminder of the caring and support these racers have for all women."
-Kim Brand (Jason Team Captain, 2004-2008)

"I don't believe there are any families that haven't been touched by this terrible disease in one way or another. Breast cancer has touched my own life by way of beloved aunts, cousins and friends. Some are winning their battle, while others couldn't endure the fight. I walk for them. I walk for their families. I walk for my daughter, friends and for co-workers.
"We at Jason International join together and say NO to this awful disease. By our presence in the Walk for the Cure, we can and do make a difference. Thank You, Mr. Jacuzzi and Jason International for your support of The Jason Whirl Girls Walk for The Cure team."

Jason International Launches “Green” Initiative

Jason International, Inc., a leading manufacturer of hydrotherapy bath products, has recently improved its long standing effort to reduce their impact on the environment by formalizing a company wide initiative to “Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle” in every area of operation.
“We have always strived to be good stewards of our resources and conscientious in our operations,” states Remo Jacuzzi, President of Jason International. “Since Jason began over 25 years ago, we have upheld high standards in all business and manufacturing practices. It is with that mindset that we now commit to the preservation of our environment,” states Jacuzzi.

Although Jason has been environmentally conscious over the years, we have recognized the growing need for avid conservation and have responded by implementing several new methods of reducing, reusing, and recycling.

Jason has replaced high energy-consuming lighting and office equipment with ENERGY STAR compliant versions. Rather than discarding equipment such as printers, copiers, and network servers, we donate them to charities in need. In addition, we promote recycling for everything from paper to production materials, and continue to encourage employees to “go paperless” by distributing documents, reports, and correspondence electronically.

“The company-wide initiative to improve the environmental practices of our business was launched in June. Since that time there has been a concerted effort among members of management and employees,” states Charity Dennington, Green Initiative Coordinator for Jason International. “Everyone is united in this cause and dedicated to doing their part. We contribute in small ways each day with a much larger goal in mind,” states Dennington.

The purpose of Jason’s “Go Green” initiative is to increase awareness of and create opportunities for addressing environmental issues within the organization. Our goal is to promote the positive effects of “Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle” among our employees, distributors, and vendors. As we do our part to be responsible with the earth’s resources, we hope to be an example other businesses will follow.

Sound Immersion

“Take a music bath once or twice a week for a few seasons. You will find it is to the soul what a water bath is to the body.” ~Oliver Wendell Holmes

We know that early childhood exposure to classical music aids in the process of mental development. A pregnant woman sitting on a park bench with earphones affixed to her stomach, the sound of Mozart playing softly, understands that music is an important part of life, and that it is never too early to benefit from its influence.

While music therapy is a relatively modern science, the idea is far from new. Native Americans used singing and chanting regularly in their healing rituals. After World War II live music was performed in hospital wards to soothe injured soldiers.

As we grow and develop, music influences our state of mind. Songs with faster beats may enhance concentration and thinking. A slower tempo produces a calm, meditative state that can promote relaxation and help prevent chronic stress.

Today, we have access to music through multiple devices. Our kitchen has a radio, our living room has an entertainment system, and our office has a computer. This trend can overflow into the bathroom and even into the bathtub itself. With Jason’s Sound Immersion System, the bath shell is literally transformed into a speaker.

“The sound immersion speakers with our newly designed floating remote control will turn your bath into a liquid stereo of sound and vibration,” says Jeff Cunningham, Vice President of Engineering at Jason. “The speakers use transducer technology to transmit vibration through the shell of the bath turning it into a sound amplifier. Simply plug in your desired media device, a stereo, TV, Ipod® with amplifier, and enjoy.”

All of the baths in our
Home Spa Collection come equipped with the Sound Immersion System, and many of our Signature baths offer this as an option.

Environmentally Friendly Faucet

Imagine yourself immersed in a private pool of swirling, bubbling, muscle-relaxing heated water. Then, because you love the sound of cascading waterfalls, imagine that your private pool is constantly filled by a never-ending cascading waterfall. This is the reality of the Jason patented Double Cascade Spout®.

Our uniquely designed faucet not only transports the bather into this wonderland of cascading waterfalls, but it does so without wasting gallons of water. The Double Cascade Spout® contains two independent faucets in one. The upper faucet, containing high flow rate valves, allows the heated water to quickly fill the bathing well, while the lower faucet, powered by the Quiet Design Whirlpool pump, continually recirculates the heated bathing water. By recirculating the water instead of continually re-filling the bath, over 50 gallons of water can be saved during each bathing session.

Designed and engineered exclusively for Jason Whirlpool baths, the Double Cascade Spout® is available as an optional selection. Visit our website
or consult your Jason Distributor for more details.

Kitchen and Bath Features Carrera™ Bath

Kitchen and Bath Business magazine highlights the benefits of clean, white space in bathroom design in their cover piece. Featured in this article is the Jason CB553P Carrera™ bath. The Carrera™ Collection contains our sculptural, solid surface baths inspired by designer Shawn-Ian Bruce.
The article gives advice specifically for creating a modern, minimalist bathroom. Their description of the
CB553P is as follows:
"A freestanding sculptural form, the Jason Carrera™ Collection bathtub is artwork for the bathroom. Ergonomically designed for a deep soaking experience, it's strong and warm, sophisticated and welcoming, with the look and feel of natural stone."
Other tips for creating a clean look in the bathroom is to use a soft, white palette, brushed nickel hardware, and frameless cabinets, as well as gray stone flooring for contrast.

Jason International Adds New Bath Models to the Designer Collection

Jason International, Inc., a leading manufacturer of hydrotherapy bath products, introduces four new additions to their Designer Collection. Jason’s Designer Collection sets the standard high for luxury bath design and state-of-the-art hydrotherapy. The collection’s broad range of shapes, sizes, colors and features provide the ideal bath for any space and style.

For 25 years, Jason has been focused on providing the ultimate hydrotherapy experience. 2008 continues that heritage of hydrotherapy innovation. “Our focus for this year was to expand the product offering within the Designer Collection. These new additions will accommodate growing trends within the marketplace, respond to feedback from the industry, and provide more shapes and sizes for the end consumer,” states Jeff Cunningham, Vice President of Engineering at Jason International.

Because of the longstanding popularity of the LX series, Jason introduces the LD635, the fifth model in the LX series. The LD635 is a rectangular version of the LC635 and shares many of the same luxurious features. It is available as a Whirlpool or Combination Air-Whirlpool bath.

Also new in 2008, the ES553 is a rectangular end drain bath available as a Whirlpool, Combination Air-Whirlpool, or Soaking bath. It shares numerous characteristics with the LX553, however, the ES553 is designed without a raised shoulder for alcove and undermount installations.

“Our studies of custom and commercial building projects have revealed an increased interest in midsized baths. This inspired the development of the new JL5535 and the VE5535 baths,” states Jeff Cunningham. “Each 66” bath is available in all of our hydrotherapy choices: Whirlpool, AirMasseur®, Combination Air-Whirlpool, and Soaking hydrotherapy.”
